Name: Chadwick Library Renovation 50th Anniversary Ribbon Cutting
Date: September 30, 2016
Time: 3:00 PM - 3:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
The Iowa Wesleyan University J. Raymond Chadwick Library has experienced great changes, thanks to a lot of heavy lifting, teamwork and a generous bequest from long-time friend and IW alumnus Don Young ’50.

“We’ve looked at how to be innovative and creative in using our space. The idea is to create spaces for our students to study and learn in a variety of different environments.” said Iowa Wesleyan’s Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, Paula Kinney.

On September 30, Iowa Wesleyan will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3 pm at the library, the public is welcome to tour the new technology, renovations and the interactive demonstrations.  In addition to celebrating Iowa Wesleyans’ 175th anniversary this year, we also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the J. Raymond Chadwick Library.

"It's appropriate that during our celebration that we acknowledge what a sincere gift Don Young's bequest is to our students and to the future of learning and historic preservation," President Steve Titus commented.  "Mr. Young was passionate about Iowa Wesleyan, the community of Mount Pleasant and a true historian of Southeast Iowa. We are honored his gift fulfills his love of libraries and history.  The timing is impeccable as it falls in line with our strategic plan "Igniting Our Passions" and fulfills several of our goals including technological advancements and renovation of facilities on our beautiful campus."
