The group performs on the UI campus each semester and for schools, universities, and community concert associations throughout the Midwest. In its early years the group recorded for CRI and Trilogy Records, and it has premiered works by Charles Wuorinen, Allan Blank, Paul Turok, and James Dowdy, among others. The quintet typically offers concert programs feature a broad range of styles, from Renaissance to Romantic era, from Broadway tunes to contemporary classical composers - there is something for everyone. Current members of IBQ are University of Iowa brass faculty professors Courtney Jones, trumpet; Jeffrey Agrell, horn; Jonathan Allen, trombone; and John Manning, tuba.
