Event Description:
PAUL JONES returns to the Chamber Spotlight Series for a performance Alter at the Heart. Paul Jones was groomed at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, The Juilliard School, and l'Ecole Normale de musique de Paris. Studying piano with Emil Danenberg, Irwin Freundlich, he also worked closely with Leon Fleisher and Gyorgy Sandor, including participation in the master classes of Alicia de Larrocha. Mr. Jones has performed nationwide in recital, including Carnegie Recital Hall and The Academy of Music (Philadelphia), with orchestras, as well as with Mstislav Rostropovitch and Pierre Fournier. Appearing on National Educational Television, "The Faustina Hurlbutt Prize (Oberlin) and The Albert Roussel Prize and "Premier Nomee" (l'Ecole Normale) are among his awards. He also served as a pianist in "The Contemporary Directions Project" underwritten by the Martha Baird Rockefeller Foundation and his stature as a pianist has been recognized by The National Arts Club. Mr. Jones has served on the music faculties of Penn State University, Franklin and Marshall College, and Immaculata College. His contributions to music and music education is noted in "Men Of Achievement," published by The International Biographical Society (Cambridge, England).
