Event Description:
A reuse plan is being developed for the Mount Pleasant Mental Health Institute with assistance from Matrix Design Group and support from the Iowa Economic Development Authority, Mount Pleasant Area Development Commission, Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance, City of Mount Pleasant, and Iowa Department of Corrections.
This comprehensive and cooperative planning effort will provide a framework for future development of the Mount Pleasant Mental Health Institute based on the facility reuse potential, regional marketplace and local economic conditions, and community vision.
At this first public meeting, the public is invited to stop in, meet the reuse planning team, learn about the facility, objectives and timeline for the planning process, ask questions and offer comments, provide input on potential future uses for the facility, and learn how to stay informed throughout the planning process.
Everyone is invited to stop in between 6:00 and 8:00 pm to help craft the vision for the future of this Mount Pleasant asset.
Input from Open House participants will be used to develop conceptual reuse alternatives for the facility that considers job creation potential, redevelopment costs, and potential revenue generation for the city. The alternatives will be presented to the community in a later project phase.
In order to develop a plan that is responsive to local needs, input from the community is essential.
